Merry Christmas Eve everyone! It’s finally here and we are so excited about it. Christmas gets better and better every year and I really do enjoy every part of it. I used to feel like Christmas Eve was the longest day ever, but I love it now. Every year we do Christmas jammies on Christmas Eve, but this year we got some at the beginning of December too so that we could wear them all month long. And of course we had to document it!

What do our Christmas Eve plans include?
We do a big Christmas Eve dinner so I’ll be cooking today and the kids are playing with their cousin. My parents are bringing 60% of the dinner with them so I don’t really have too much to prepare. We have Soren’s brother and his little family in town. Soren is trying to go shooting with his brother today and I’ve got the Christmas music blasting. The boys are really looking forward to opening presents and so tonight they will get to open two. One of them will be new jammies from us and the other will be a gift from one of their brothers. The boys each drew names and were assigned a brother to buy a gift for. They actually did a great job picking them out this year so I think it will be a fun little taste of what is to come tomorrow morning.
We’ll be reading Luke 2 as well tonight and talking about the real meaning of Christmas as a family as well. It’s fun to play games and eat and open presents, but we won’t forget the real gift this season. We’re so thankful for the gift of Jesus Christ and His gift to us of life after death and the ability to repent and change and become better. I’m so thankful for Him and this time of year to especially be thankful for his life, death and resurrection.
