A few months ago I decided to try lash extensions and have been loving every second of it! I was nervous about them initially. Would I be able to keep them up? Would they look fake? Would they bother me? Was it worth the investment? Today I am sharing the answers to all of your burning questions with Sandy who does my lashes. In case you missed our last Q&A, you can check it out here where we discussed everything about microblading.
How do you wash around your eyes with lash extensions?
It seems difficult but it is actually very easy to wash around your eyes and care for your lashes. We recommend and oil free cleanser (foaming is best) and either your clean fingers or a fluffy eyeshadow brush to cleanse your lashes and eyes, gently. Rinse, pat with a towel and brush your lashes with a clean lash brush when dry. Twice a day if you wear makeup.
How often do you need to get them filled?
Depending on your skin type, lash type and lifestyle we recommend every 2-3 weeks. The better you care for them, the longer you can go between appointments.
Can you wear mascara with extensions?
We don’t recommend to. It defeats the whole purpose! If you feel the need for mascara, let’s change up the style the next fill so that you can wake up and go!
What is the difference between a lash lift and lash extensions?
Lash lift enhances your natural lashes by lifting them from the base to look like you used an eyelash curler and it lasts 6-8+ weeks. It does not replace mascara, but it does replace your curler and make mascara application easier. Add a tint and you not only look more alert when waking up, but it simulates a single coat of mascara for many. Lash extensions is meant to replace mascara AND give your lashes a more curled appearance. They add length and volume. Completely customizable based on what you’re wanting EVERY fill.
How much are lash extensions?
Full sets start at $200 and fills start at $55 depending on the style of lashes you’re looking for and the level of experience your artist has.
What happens if I stop getting lash extensions?
Lash Extensions, when done properly, move, grow and shed with your natural lashes. We isolate one natural lash to apply our extension or fan of extensions. So, no natural lashes are stuck to each other and they can be brushed through and grow freely and comfortably. Side note: you should never feel discomfort while wearing lash extensions. They are literally an extension to each natural lash and should be very comfortable to wear.
Can you get lash extensions while pregnant?
Of course! We encourage you to! Nothing like looking and feeling good while you’re taking maternity/post birthing photos and waking up at 2am for your third feed of the night! You deserve it and we have plenty of pillows and cushions to keep you comfortable during your lash nap with us.
What is the best type of eyeliner to wear with extensions?
Our personal fave is Xtreme Lashes eyeliner. Comes in both liquid felt tip and gel pencil. Smudge proof but comes off easy with oil free cleanser. I recommend them not be oil based, waterproof or latex based. These are difficult to take off or can cause retention issues.
